Designing With Herbs
The Order In A Herb Garden
The designs of many
herb
gardens from yester-year show that herbs need certain features to bring out
their full beauty. These structures are like the basic backbone of the herb
garden.
Designing Using Leaf Colours
Even the colours of the leaves play an important role in the
design of a herb garden. You can have one
colour or many different varieties that create all sorts of different colours.
The best variety of species for colour will be found in the following:
-
Sage
-
Mint
-
Thyme
-
Lemon Balm
-
Comfrey
-
Basil
-
Oregano
-
Nasturtium
There are many factors that can help you
with the design of a herb garden. You can use the different sizes of some of the
herbs. For instance putting tall herbs (Fennel, Dill, Angelica) with low-growing
herbs (Rosemary, Thyme, Parsley) and combining those with the medium-tall herbs
(Oregano, Mint, Lemon Balm).
There is also the option of experimenting with the
shapes and sizes of the leaves as well as the colour as I have mentioned above.
As long as you never forget the basic requirements
and specific positions of the different species of herbs and the
combinations
of herbs you use, as these are the most important aspects of them all.
