Herbs In A Garden Plant Pot or Container Herb Gardening

Potted Herbs

Nearly all herb species will grow well in pots, boxes, troughs or any container for that matter.

  • Bay and Rosemary are good large container plants.
  • Sage, Rosemary, Savory and Thyme grow well in stony soil. So they will not mind if you forget to water them when you have placed them in your pot, they will brow well in a mixture of soil and sand.
  •  Annual and biennial kitchen herbs need to be watered regularly and fertilizes every 2-4 weeks.
  • The most used positions for placing potted herbs are patios and balconies.

Planting Different Herb Blends

Here is a list of herbs and other plants that go well together in a pot.

  • Violet Heliotrope and Sage, Lavender or Thyme go well together.
  • Wood Sorrel and Mint, Parsley or Chives go well together.
  • Cherry Tomatoes and Basil, Parsley or Garlic go well together.
  • Silver Wormwood looks exceptional when planted with White Pansies.
